Bailey Hibbard Wins First Sprint Car Feature,
Cox Wins Series At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City Oregon...September 10...Bailey Hibbard won his first career 25 lap Extreme Sprint Car Main Event with a lap 20 pass on second place finisher Raquel Ivie at Southern Oregon Speedway Saturday night.  With his fourth place finish, Kinzer Cox won the $1000 championship in the three race Series.

IMCA Sport Modified point leader Mike Medel led all 20 laps with David Marble shadowing his every move in second.  It was Medel's first win of the season.

Two time reigning SODCA Dwarf Car champion Josh King won his third 20 lap Main Event with a lap 18 pass on Cody Peters.  Peters spun in traffic in the last turn as Camden Robustelli finished second.

David Steele won his fifth Mini Stock Main Event of the season.  Andrew Hall made a pair of impressive passes to finish a season best second.

Joby Shields won his third 20 lap Hornets Main Event.  Tim Hedges gained the point lead with a season best second place finish.

Young Bailey Hibbard won his first career Extreme Sprint Car Main Event.  Heat race winner Raquel Ivie led early with Bailey's father David Hibbard in pursuit.  With a puff of smoke on the back stretch on lap 13, D. Hibbard slowed and pitted in the Turn 4 infield.  Ivie continued to run cautiously behind two slower cars as B. Hibbard slowly gained ground.  On lap 20, B. Hibbard made an outside pass on the back stretch for the lead and brought it home to a well earned victory.  Ivie settled for second ahead of Cooper Desbiens, Triple Crown Series champion Kinzer Cox and Dusty Redmond.

Josh King won the 20 lap Dwarf Car Main Event.  Cody Peters impressed by leading the race through 16 laps and several yellow flags.  Chad Cardoza surrendered second to Camden Robustelli on a lap nine restart.  Contact between Robustelli and C. Peters on lap 17 saw Robustelli spin in Turn 1, but a Don Gifford spin caused the yellow flag.  C. Peters led the next restart, but King made an outside pass on the back stretch for the lead.  King went on to win, and Peters spun after getting trapped behind a slower car in Turn 4. Kalvin Morton finished second ahead of Robustelli, Cardoza and Brock Peters.

Mike Medel won the 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event.  Medel jumped into the lead at the start with Trophy Dash winner David Marble and Kalvin Morton in close pursuit.  Even after the race's only yellow flag, Medel maintained his cool and held off the relentless pressure of Marble and Morton for the victory.  Buddy McHargue and A.J. Parker completed the Top 5.

David Steele collected his fifth 20 lap Mini Stock Main Event win.  Steele grabbed the lead at the start ahead of point leader Bob Burkett and Gary Anderson.  Andrew Hall made a low pass in Turn 4 of the third lap to grab third from Gary Anderson, and he made a similar move on lap five to take second from point leader Bob Burkett.  The race ran non stop without a yellow flag, and Steele was into slower traffic by the halfway point.  Hall cut into Steele's lead, but Steele prevailed at the end.  Burkett won a battle with Anderson for third as Trophy Dash winner Merissa Henson finished fifth.

Joby Shields won the 20 lap Hornets Main Event.  Shields won the heat race and Trophy Dash for a clean sweep.  Jesse Merriman battled Tim Hedges for second, but he broke while holding the spot on lap ten.  Hedges had second at that point, but he finished a distant second to the flying Shields.  John Hoult debuted a new car with a third place finish ahead of incoming point leader Darrel Nelson Jr.

Racing continues at Southern Oregon Speedway next week with IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sport Modifieds in action along with Open Stock Cars, Super 4's and Hornets.  For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.
