Southern Oregon Speedway For July 4th Event
Steve Borror #B40 is blistering the speedways with four wins in five starts.
The star of the group these days is Steve Borror, winner of four of the last five Main Events on the tour. However, he met his match at the last Medford race in the form of past NASCAR West race winner Rocky Nash. Nash was making his first start of the season, and he really made it count as he led all the way for the victory. Borror had to start at the back of the pack and had worked his way to second before spinning on the last lap. He recovered in fifth, which is his worst finish of the year.
Scott Flowers #21 came back from a spin to finish third in his last visit.
When the Pro Stocks raced at Yreka last
week, Borror was back to his usual self as he took the checkered flag just
ahead of Nash, who was not far behind him. Nash may be the driver to beat Borror this week, but there are certainly others who may be up to the
task. At the most recent Medford race, it was John David Duffie driving
the Arlen Heath owned entry to a second place finish. .Duffie has had multiple Top 5 seasons, and he was the 2008 point runnerup. It just may be the fast #42
car carrying Duffie to the Main Event win this week.

Another
driver not to be ignored in the field is Scott Flowers. A past champion
at the old Worden Speedway, Flowers is working on his third consecutive
runner up point season. He finished fourth at Yreka last week and
recovered from a spin at the most recent Medford race to finish third
at the checkered flag. Flowers is due for a victory, but it could be his
son James Flowers who picks up the win. James had an unfortunate
non finish at the most recent Medford race, but he does have a
top five finish here this season and was fifth at Yreka last week.There is also 2014 Southern Oregon Speedway Street Stock champion Miles Deubert to consider. Miles made his first start at Medford in the last race, and he did a little bit better at Yreka as he finished in the third position just ahead of S. Flowers. As Deubert gets his #3d car dialed in, he could be a driver to watch in the quest for victory.
Two time champion Ken Irving #1 started the season with a second place finish.
When you talk about the quest for victory, you simply
cannot ignore the red #1 car of Ken Irving. Irving is a two time
champion in the series, and he opened the season at Medford with a solid
second place finish. The fact is, this veteran is due for a feature
win, and it could be the 4th of July that is his night to shine.The one thing about the Outlaw Pro Stock division is it gives you the look of a Late Model, but it has a cost more in line with Street Stock racing. The budget makes it more affordable for the racers to come out and compete. In fact, it is this group that has inspired Hayfork Speedway in Trinity County, California to start their own division. Many fans love their Stock Cars, and the Outlaw Pro Stock Tour is doing their best to provide them with plenty of it.
Rick Lukens #12 has one of the nicest looking cars in the field and two heat wins so far.
A field of
at least a dozen racers are expected to roll into town on Monday, many of
them hailing from Klamath Falls. In recent weeks, the #12 car of
Rick Lukens has looked good, and he has picked up a couple of heat race
wins and finished in the Top 5 in the Main Event this year. Other
drivers to keep an eye out for this week include Matt Harlow, Scott
Bennett, Roy Bain, Tyler Lockwood, Tom Hackworth, Arlen Garrison, Johnny Cobb and rookie Julia Flowers.The Outlaw Pro Stock drivers are looking forward to hitting the track, and they have their sights set on another big race, the $2500 to win Billy Geyer Memorial coming up on July 23rd in Yreka as Southern Oregon Speedway is dark for the fair. Fireworks will be a big attraction this Monday at Southern Oregon Speedway, but the Outlaw Pro Stocks are sure to put on a good show along with the IMCA Sport Modifieds and Southern Oregon Dwarf Car Association.
